Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?

Yes — privacy is the core principle of XSpeak. All transcription, speaker identification, and AI analysis run entirely on your device by default. No audio, transcripts, or personal data are ever uploaded or shared externally. If you choose to use an optional OpenAI-compatible model, data is sent to the endpoint you configure — but that is entirely your choice and clearly opt-in.

Does XSpeak work offline?

Yes. All core features — real-time transcription, speaker identification, and AI analysis — work fully offline without an internet connection. An internet connection is only needed if you opt in to using an external OpenAI-compatible model.

Which devices are supported?

XSpeak is available on Mac with Apple Silicon, iPad with Apple Silicon, and iPhone 15 Pro and later. Download it from the App Store.

How does speaker identification work?

XSpeak automatically recognizes and labels speakers in the transcript as the conversation happens. You can create a personal voice profile so your voice is always clearly identified as yours. All voice processing happens on-device — no voice data ever leaves your device.

What are custom skills?

Custom skills let you define your own AI actions and apply them to the conversation transcript. For example, you can create a skill that extracts action items in a specific format or scores the meeting against your criteria. Once created, skills appear alongside the built-in AI actions and can be triggered on demand or run automatically as part of real-time analysis.

What is included in the free version?

The free version includes real-time transcription, speaker identification, and conversation history for up to 3 recordings.

What do I get with Pro?

Pro unlocks unlimited conversation history and all AI features: Full Analysis, Summary, Insights, Suggestion, Real-time Insights, custom text queries. Pro is available as a monthly subscription, yearly, or a one-time purchase.

Can I use my own AI model?

Yes. XSpeak supports any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. You can point it at a local model, a self-hosted instance, or any compatible API. When using an external endpoint, be aware that your transcript data will be sent to that service.

How do I delete my data?

All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete individual recordings or all stored data at any time from within the app settings.
